getaway in Santa Cruz

I am planning a weekend getaway with my girlfriend from the east coast next month, and was thinking about Santa Cruz.

Does anyone have suggestions on a small cottage, suite-like hotel or bed-and-breakfast in Santa Cruz, or some other fun bay area destination?

What about night life spots in santa cruz as well?

There's a very cute cottage in the south part of Santa Cruz, a few blocks from a beach, that we enjoyed with our kids a while ago. It's got three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a family room with a big-screen TV, and a nice kitchen for cooking (if you so desire). You can see photos at http://www.palisadescottage.com/. There's a nice walking path nearby, too, that goes along a marshy area.

Can't help you on night life, Debby. :^)

I suggest you check out The Catalyst for music, and Pearl Alley for great food/wine ($$).

On the beach at the end of my street.

You can sit in the rooftop hottub and watch the surf.

This place looks awesome. Unfortunately, they are booked for the weekend we are interested in - we will keep it in mind for next time though.
Maybe we can hook up for some nightlife action with you guys though...

Small-star-onSmall-star-onSmall-star-onSmall-star-onSmall-star-on  awesome beach rental, reasonable price

This 3 bedroom house is soooo nice & kid friendly too. Near awesome beaches that aren't as crowded as downtown Santa Cruz. Also, the price was relatively low (200$/night + flat cleaning fee). We had a great time there

Small-star-onSmall-star-onSmall-star-onSmall-star-onSmall-star-on  fabulous california cuisine

This place is great when you feel like splurging. My favorite dish was the macadamia encrusted scallops. Fancy but didn't feel pretentious. plus we had some awesome champagne.
