Reusable party plates

Rafe's third birthday party is next weekend, and we'll be holding it in the park (as usual). Between grandparents, Rafe's friends, their siblings and their parents, we should be about 30 people. I'd like to avoid using so many paper plates & cups. Where could I find light-weight reusable plastic party ware, and what brands are good?

Thanks!

UPDATE - Here's another website for future reference, courtesy of Mobspinner Davina - www.biodegradablestore.com

Hi Emily -

Whole Foods carries a line of reusable plastic ware.
You may also want to check out www.greenpartygoods.com.

There's also a line of biodegradable plates/utensils/cups, but I haven't yet located them. I have a mobspin friend who knows more... will try to get her to reply.

Have fun!

Thanks! I went to Whole Foods today and found some plastic plates which are made out recycled plastic, reusable (dishwasher safe), and recyclable... and not too expensive.

my sister-in-law uses the biodegradable plasticware. i believe it is fairly pricey but worth it in the end. i will try and find out where she gets it.

I have used the re-usable dishwasher safe plastic ware (we got it at elephant pharm, but I think it is the same as the whole foods version). I find it so convenient that we have basically made it our primary set of dishes, at least for the kids.

could somebody explain the philosophy behind "reusable" plasticware. isn't the very nature/point of plasticware to throw it away. if you are going to use it and reuse it, why not just use regular silverware? i thought the plastic was not made to be used over and over again - it breaks down right?

don't get me wrong - i am all for saving instead of trashing, i just don't get the point.
