pumpkin patch

Location: Silicon Valley

Since Grant Rd is closed, as well as the one on DeAnza near 85, we need suggestions for pumpkin patches nearby. I know about the one on hollenbeck and el camino, but was wondering if there are any others around us.

My kids love "Grandpa's Pumpkin Patch" in the Sears parking lot on San Antonio near El Camino (border of Palo Alto & Mountain View). It's a cheesy parking lot patch as far as I'm concerned, but they like it. Bounce house, a few chicks & bunnies, tiny haunted house, & tractor ride around in a circle. We haven't been yet this year, but last year they only charged for the pumpkins.

Last weekend Dave took the kids to Webb Ranch (near 280 & Alpine Rd.), and apparently it was pretty fun. They also have a bounce house, haunted house, and pony rides for a fee.

thanks Jenny - I will definitely check out the webb ranch one, since I can shop at the fruit and veggie stand there as well.

We just went to Webb Ranch - just off of 280 at Alpine Road. They have one pony or riding, a bounce house, a small petting zoo, and a haunted house. They do charge for all of these things, though. A bonus is that there were still strawberries and raspberries to pick there, too.

SO I took the kids last weekend to Webb Ranch. All in all we had fun, but the trip was marred by the red-eyed scratching bunny in the petting zoo, the deflating bouncy (I kid you not, we had to do an emergency evacuation) and the overall level of grime all over me and the kids when we got home. Nothing like joining the fray!

We went to Grandpa's Pumpkin Patch (mentioned above) yesterday. It was very fun. If you're interested, go on a weekday -- I don't imagine it would be enjoyable on a weekend.

Grandpa has gotten wise and now charges $3 per kid to enter. It was worth every penny, though. There were 2 bouncy houses, one with a slide. A couple of hay tunnels, and a small "haunted house." The kids can pet the rabbits and goats, and even hold the chicks.

Since it wasn't crowded, my kids had a ball in the bouncy houses. And I love it how they ask, "Mom, can we go to Grandpa's Pumpkin Patch so we can pick up chicks?"

2 thoughts:
- The patch on San Antonio gave my son lots of flea bites - so be careful...we used to love that one now won't go there anymore :-(

- We found another awesome one up on Woodside road right off 101 on the north face of Woodside. Lots of bouncy everythings.
