West Wing.

Five stars. Highly recommended. Netflix it now!

It's not on your list so...
If you haven't, you've got to watch this. This has got to be one of the best television series ever!

Dialog is phenomenal! The plot line is both timely and timeless.

If it's not obvious, it has a political bent. Don't let that scare you off though. You'll finish an hour show and not even realize you were thinking a bit.

Burn Notice, Season 1 just came out, and it's outstanding. Season 2 is starting tomorrow night!

And another good TV series is the new Battlestar Galactica (not the 70's series). Whereas the 70s series was kind of campy, the new one is quite dark...very good...

Burn notice looks awesome. I haven't heard of it. I just put it in my queue.

I need to give battlestar galactica a try. I have heard the same from other folks, and I bet I would like it. thanks!

Anyone seen Mad Men from AMC?

It's supposed to be great but I don't think I've heard first hand from anyone who's watched it...

I've seen the series, and it is really good!

ugh - i was just kidding, how many episodes do you think you will make it through??

ha ha ha i used to adore that show!

oops, that was actually me, I was logged onto Roy's account...

Another recommendation: Supernatural. Really fun show! The lead characters are supposed to be in their early 20s, but they seem to enjoy classic rock/music from 60's/70's.

I'm with Miriam on Battlestar Gallactica. Firefly is also extremely good if you end up getting into the whole sci-fi genre

thanks - I just added it... it looks interesting!

I tried an episode or two of Battlestar Gallactica season one and didn't jump in head first. Do I just need to give it a second shot? I am willing to try it again, since the same thing happened with me and my ALL time fave "the wire".

In response to west wing... I watched the first two episodes. It kept me entertained, but I have to say that I was underwhelmed. what's with the cheesy music? the campy lines? Needs a bit more cynicism to be up my alley.

Mike, now I really insist that you watch the wire.

West Wing was a no go? I'm so disappointed. I love that show.

Anyway, the wire is in the mail from netflix...now we'll see how your recommendations go.

I would say give it another shot and keep watching a couple more episodes. If it still doesn't grab you, then let it go...have you started watching "Burn Notice" yet? I just started watching season 2, and it's a lot of fun!

Miriam, thanks for the Burn Notice reminder. I knew I was supposed to add something to my TiVo!

If you missed any of the earlier episodes, you can watch them online at http://www.usanetwork.com/series/burnnotice/video/fullep/.

My So Called Life - I just finished watching the only two seasons and it was great. Such a progressive show for its time....the moping can get annoying, but they tried to bring up real "angst" and issues (parents, drugs, sexuality) that aren't usually represented for youth in TVlandia (90210 yuck).

#28 - posted on Jul 21, 2008 (10:56 am)

I feel like My so called life really captured the feeling of being a teenager, without making the parents into the bad guys: the embarrassment, the feeling of being misunderstood, first love etc.

It was a bit cheesy at times... but I totally bought it.

Turns out I forgot that I rented the second season of the Closer as well already - I did enjoy that show quite a bit! I am going to wait for the current season to come out on DVD as we do not have TIVO (I know, I know we need to get our act together on that one)

Roy and I have been watching Burn Notice. Fun stuff. It is so over the top, it seems to work somehow...

#31 (reply to #25) - posted on Aug 25, 2008 (9:28 pm)

Yes, the gun-happy girlfriend is my hero! It's a lot of fun!

#32 (reply to #31) - posted on Aug 29, 2008 (1:15 pm)

Yeah, I watched Mad Men for about ten minutes and got bored. Didn't seem as great as all the hype.

I gave battlestar galactica another try - and I am getting into it! I love number 6 cylon - she is so evil! thanks
